Kitec, a plumbing used in homes from 1995 to 2007, faced recalls around 2005 due to rapid deterioration, causing leaks and floods. Its unpredictability led to home insurance issues, and since Kitec stopped production, even small repairs are challenging due to unavailability of parts, necessitating replacements.
How Do I Know If I Have Kitec In My Home?
Inspect under sinks, behind the washing machine, or near the hot water tank for Kitec plumbing. Look for bright blue pipes for cold water and red/orange for hot water.
Kitec plumbing is also labeled with one of the following names: Kitec, Kitec XPA, XPA, IPEX, AQUA, PlumbBetter, WarmRite, AmbioComfort, KERR Controls or Plomberie Améliorée.
